Ruby the Outdoor Explorer!

We are so blessed in where we live, as we live in a small village in rural Leicestershire, surrounded by countryside.

Today Ruby and I went on a walk around the fields at Nana's house to check on all the animals and to generally explore our wonderful surroundings.

Over recent years Grandad has built a lake from a natural spring and it is the most amazing place to be; I remember whilst I was pregnant with Ruby, enjoying the gentle stroll up to the lake and marvelling at its beauty; I still have the same feelings today, its such a calm place and feels a million miles away from the busyness of everyday life.

The walk along a path leading up to the lake is magical in itself as you can see from the photos, you don't actually see the lake until you get really near!

When you reach the lake there is even a crossing to go over to an island in the middle of the lake where the ducks lay their eggs; for this reason we did not go across today. We might see some little ducklings very soon!

Ruby and I both enjoyed the quiet time and fed the fish lots of food. Ruby got very excited every time one of the fish came up to eat the food. I think I could have sat there all day just watching the fish!

On the way back, Ruby decided to pick some flowers for me!

We decided to take a different route back to the way we came, and ended up going across the stream and getting lost in the long grass!

Ruby and I had great fun playing hide and seek in the long grass but it didn't do much good for my hay fever!

We continued our adventure by playing on the horse tyre swing and climbing and walking along the horse jumps!

Our adventure finished when Ruby decided she was feeling tired and lay down in the long grass; I had to carry her home!

  3. What a lovely time you both had together and what a clever Grandad to create such a magical place. I can just imagine how much fun Ruby and Lottie are going to have over the years exploring such a fab place. Thanks for linking up and sharing on Country Kids.
